Shorewood Elementary School Parent Compact
In partnership, the Troy Shorewood Elementary School Community, consisting of staff, parents, and students agree that this compact outlines how the entire school staff, the parents, and the students will share the responsibility for student academic achievement and social emotional learning. Included are the ways in which the staff, parents, and students will build and develop a partnership that will help Troy Shorewood Elementary School students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), show growth and achievement to meet the high standards set by the State of Illinois.
School Responsibilities
As a member of the Troy Shorewood Staff I will:
- Embody positivity, safety, and kindness within our classroom, school, and community.
- Cultivate strong partnerships and meaningful connections between home and school.
- Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction within a nurturing learning environment.
- Champion best practices by empowering the whole child’s social, emotional, and academic growth through continuous learning and demonstrating lifelong curiosity.
- Partner with families through transparent, consistent communication about their child’s progress and mastery of learning standards.
- Honor every student's growth and learning, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and valued as an essential part of our school family.
Parent Responsibilities
As a parent/guardian/family I (we) will:
- Embody positivity, safety, and kindness within my child’s classroom, school, and community.
- Champion my child’s attendance by guaranteeing they arrive on time, prepared, and ready to learn.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to empower my child’s learning journey.
- Inspire my child to persevere in their studies and honor their achievements through engaging daily conversations at home.
- Cultivate a dedicated environment for my child’s studies and nurture their organizational skills.
- Nurture my child's daily well-being through thoughtful conversation, while proactively reviewing and engaging with all school communications.
Student Responsibilities
As a student, I share the responsibility to improve my academic achievement and growth. I will:
- Embody respect, responsibility, safety, and kindness in my classroom, school, and community.
- Arrive at school daily energized to learn and achieve my personal best!
- Collaborate with my family and teachers to maximize my learning potential.
- Celebrate my school day by sharing my learning and experiences with my family.
- Embrace challenges with a growth mindset and persevere in my daily learning.
- Dedicate my best effort to mastering my classwork and homework.
- Deliver all school papers and information to my parents/guardians to keep them informed.
